Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion

  1. Read Mark 4:21-34. Jesus continues to teach in parables. What is he teaching about (what is his subject matter)? Why is he teaching on this subject matter?
  2. Jesus uses several different images for his teaching (a lamp, a measure, scattered seed, and a mustard seed). What do each illustrate or emphasize?
  3. Considering what Jesus teaches about the nature of the kingdom of God, how can we be comforted by this message? What confidence comes from this message?
  4. Once again Jesus emphasizes that we must be careful how we hear the Word. How do you actively “pay attention to what you hear”? How do you help others pay attention?
