Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion
- Read 1 Kings 17:1-7. In fact, read 1 Kings 16:29-17:7. How would you describe the environment of the nation? How would a follower of Yahweh feel in this environment?
- What stands out about Elijah when we first meet him in 17:1? Without any background, what do we know about his faith from this verse? Where does Elijah’s boldness come from?
- What does it mean that God is sovereign? How is God’s sovereignty demonstrated in 1 Kings 17:1-7? Why is this encouraging?
- What does it look like for us to be faithful followers of Yahweh in the midst of a godless culture? In what areas should we be bold?
