  1. Read 1 Kings 17:1-7. In fact, read 1 Kings 16:29-17:7. How would you describe the environment of the nation? How would a follower of Yahweh feel in this environment?
  2. What stands out about Elijah when we first meet him in 17:1? Without any background, what do we know about his faith from this verse? Where does Elijah’s boldness come from?
  3. What does it mean that God is sovereign? How is God’s sovereignty demonstrated in 1 Kings 17:1-7? Why is this encouraging?
  4. What does it look like for us to be faithful followers of Yahweh in the midst of a godless culture? In what areas should we be bold?
