  1. Read 1 Kings 19:1-18. Why does Elijah run? Why does Elijah want to die?
  2. How does fear compete with faith? Why is fear contrary to faith?
  3. Up until this point Elijah was a man who obeyed the Word of God. How does the word of man (Jezebel’s messenger) take prominence in Elijah’s heart? What does the competition between the word of man and the Word of God look like in our lives day to day?
  4. How does Elijah’s repeated statement in verses 10 & 14 reveal that the pride of life snuffed out his love and devotion for God?
