Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion

  1. Read Galatians 3:10-22. What do we mean by saying the Law codifies God’s redemption plan?
  2. Why does Paul spend so much time explaining the place and purpose of the Law in God’s overall plan of redemption for the Galatians?
  3. Why is it so important to understand that covenants cannot be annulled or changed after they are ratified? What covenant is Paul speaking about in Galatians 3:15-19?
  4. Describe or list the differences between the Law and the promise. How are they not contrary to one another?
  5. What is the “promise by faith in Jesus Christ”? How does obedience to God’s law relate to the promise? In other words, if we receive God’s blessing by promise, why then obey?

Memory Verse of the Week: Galatians 3:22 But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. (ESV)
