Christ Will Build His Church

Every Saint a Minister

  •  Christ Gave Offices
  • Three Purposes for Christ’s Gift
  • Christ’s Guarantee for Success

Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Ephesians 4:11-16. As Paul was writing in Greek, these 6 verses comprise one long, complicated sentence. Who is the main subject? What is the main verb? What is the significance of recognizing the grammatical structure?
  2. We can identify three purposes for Christ’s action of giving the offices in verse 11. What is the first purpose found in verse 12? What does this mean for each follower of Christ?
  3. The second purpose is found in verse 13. What does Christ want to accomplish among by giving the offices?
  4. The third purpose is found in verse 14 (negatively) and verse 15 (positively). What is this purpose? How do we “cooperate” with Christ’s gift in fulfilling this purpose?
  5. What is Paul trying to emphasize in verse 16? Who makes the body grow? Explain.

 Memory Verse of the Week:

Ephesians 4:11-12 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, (ESV)
