Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read 2 Samuel 7:1-17. Why does David want to build God a “house”? Why does Nathan support David without reservation (v. 3)?
  2. Compare God’s response in verses 5-7 with Acts 17:24-25. What do we learn about God from these verses? How is God rebuking David?
  3. What kind of “house” will the Lord make for David (v. 11)? How are the promises to David related to the promises of the people in verse 10?
  4. In what ways does Solomon fulfill these promises? In what ways does Jesus fulfill them?
  5. In verse 15 God promises that his steadfast love will never depart from David’s descendent. What do we learn about the faithfulness of God’s grace from these verses?

 Memory Verse of the Week:

2 Samuel 7:28 And now, O Lord God, you are God, and your words are true, and you have promised this good thing to your servant. (ESV)
