God Spoke by His Son

Rest for the Weary

  •  The Father’s Good Pleasure
  • The Son’s Good Pleasure
  • Finding Rest in a New Yoke

Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Matthew 11:20-30. Why does Jesus curse the cities of Chorazin, Bethsaida, and Capernaum? Why is this shocking?
  2. For what does Jesus praise God? Why might we not like hearing this truth?
  3. Consider verse 27. What role does Jesus play in our relationship with the Father? Why doesn’t every single human have the “right” to know the Father?
  4. Who are those who “labor and are heavy laden”? If you identify with this label, what does it look like for you?
  5. What is the rest Jesus promises? How does one receive rest from Jesus?

 Memory Verse of the Week:

Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (ESV)
