Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read Hebrews 4:11-13. What do we learn about the Word of God from verse 12? Get specific: what is the author trying to teach with the adjectives he uses? How do these make the Word so unique?
- Think about the significance of the uniqueness of the Word of God. In what ways are you comforted or encouraged by the uniqueness of the Word? Convicted or challenged?
- Verse 13 indicates that the Word “exposes” us. How is this exposure good for us?
- Consider the logical progression of verses 11-13. How does verses 12 & 13 connect with verse 11? What are we commanded in verse 11 and how do we go about doing it?
- In what ways can you “saturate” yourself in the Word of God in this new year?
Memory Verse of the Week:
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. (ESV)
